The Business Design Centre

History of the Business Design Centre

Formerly the Royal Agricultural Hall, The Business Design Centre is recognised as one of London’s most historic Landmarks. With its design Inspired from Crystal Palace, its purpose has transformed from a live-stock market, to a Music Hall, to a Bingo Hall, finally to become the perfect combination of Exhibition Space & Let-able space for Offices & Showrooms.

Conveniently located 10 minutes from Kings Cross St. Pancras International and a short walk from Angel tube station, the Business Design Centre is one of London’s most popular conference and exhibition venues. With over 250 events and 900,000 visitors a year the BDC, based in the vicinity of the City and Central London, offers a stylish, flexible and convenient solution for everything from banquets to conferences and exhibitions.

As it stands today

The Business Design Centre is made up of several spaces. The main exhibition space, the mezzanine, is located in the centre of the building and covers over 2,000 square meters. It offers plenty of opportunities for branding … all of which can be found in our look book. The vast space can also be split up into sponsored zones enabling organisers to explore extra revenue streams. We have meticulously measured all these areas and now have helpful templates available to work from. From Stair risers to railing banners we have it covered.

Located on the 2nd floor the Gallery Hall is ideal for more intimate exhibitions or larger conferences. This multi-purpose space is 890 square meters and surrounded by the atrium above. We have helped many organisers brand this area and understand how best to use the space to get the most out of your branding. From forums, to a Spice Girl memorabilia event … we have helped organiser utilize the space for all types of needs.

As well as these two main areas there is also an Auditorium on site that seats over 500 delegates. An executive centre located on the ground floor and several large ‘Rooms’ which work perfectly as break out spaces. We are always on-site to help with branding ideas and are more than happy to do a walk-through of the venue in preparation of your exhibition or conference.

How Onward Display can help with your event

There are no large format printers better suited to supply your graphics than Onward Display. Our experience working in the venue is second to none. We have built fantastic working relationships with the conference and exhibition teams at the Business Design Centre, and are the only company trusted to brand the famous arched front windows. This relationship has been built up over the previous 10 years of working together and continues to grow.

We can supply branding look books for almost the entire venue. There’re not many spaces that we haven’t branded and are familiar with all the challenges that come from guiding your delegates around your event. From three-meter-tall free-standing arches to floor stickers we have helped organisers with all sort of way finding signage.

Uncompromising quality

The print technology found in both our units at the Business Design Centre is all top-of-the-range. We have constantly invested in the latest machinery to ensure we are able to deliver the best results. From the newest printer and cutting machines to the latest rip software we are leading the way for large format print innovation.

Our dedicated account managers focus solely on exhibitions. They are dedicated to ensuring your graphics are designed, produced and installed as smoothly as possible. As your contact in the office they will be on hand to answer any questions you have. On-site they will act a liaison between you and our team of installers overseeing the completion of the project. And all the time in between they will help guide you with suggestions and advice.

More than just a printer

We are more than just a printer. All of our account managers come from creative backgrounds, from Art School to film editing. They love to be challenged and to work on creative projects – no idea is to crazy to explore. We have already built an 11-metre length tunnel for mines and money to help guide the visitors directly to the exhibition floor, as well as a bespoke aeroplane fuselage to form a 6-metre tunnel for the Aviation Festival … the perfect solution to attract attention and guide visitors to the Individual Conferences. Let us know if you require help with your artwork. We have a dedicated team of artworkers that love putting together ideas.

Our experienced installation team all hold IPAF and PASMA qualifications. All staff are trained in the health and safety requirements for the building and fully covered by our liability insurance. Our annual RAM reports cover all the work that we undertake in the building. This ensures that your build up will run completely smoothly.

Reducing your events carbon footprint

Onward Display are also the most environmentally friendly option when it comes to graphic suppliers. As well as our large range of sustainable and recyclable substrates, being based on site also reduces our carbon footprint. While other suppliers have to ship their graphics to site from miles away, all we have to do is open our doors.

Being based on-site allows us certain privileges that no other graphic supplier can offer such as working on-site past 10pm. These extra hours can become invaluable when ensuring the final bits of branding are completed.

We are extremely proud of our reputation we have gained at the Business Design Centre working on some of the biggest exhibitions and events that the venue has seen, such as; London Art Fair, Aviation Festival, Women’s health, Country Living festival and Stylist to name a few…
